So the day finally arrived we have started work!!!! Can't believe we are working again after all this time of not working!!!

Met this chap at the visitor centre in the Waitakere Ranges. He seemed pretty happy with himself, not sure why!!!

Piha is a famous West Coast beach, it even has it's own tv show! The rips are pretty bad and the tide comes in pretty fast. There is also the famous Lion Rock halfway along the beach you can walk about half way up and the views are amazing.

Finally we had a day that was nice all day and had a nice evening. We headed just down the road to the Te Atatu Peninsula which has amazing views across the harbour. Thought we would share the view with you.

Settled in Auckland.

Have been in Auckland now for nearly a week and we both feel really settled. Weather has been good so far summer is starting to arrive!
We have been mainly finding our feet, got our new little car a Toyota Starlet Glanza S which is good so have been driving around. So far we have been into the city most days and have been back to the Sky Tower and Auckland Zoo. The city is really cool most of the high street shops are out of the city in malls that are dotted around everywhere! The North Shore is lovely and it brought back some memories visiting the places we went to 4 years ago!
We are both suprised at how quickly we have settled into the way of life over here even for a city is so relaxed!!!
Schools have finished and they don't start back until Feb 7th so everyone has a long break! Hopefully we are going to spend new year on Waiheke Island about 30 mins from Auckland by boat. So beers on the beach at midnight, should be neat!

Two Weeks in.....

So we have been here for two weeks now and are having a great time. We are staying on a farm with an English couple who emigrated here in the 1960's. They are slightly mad but quite good fun really. They make their own wine so we are getting used to having more than a glass or two over dinner!! We have been taken to some amazing places and the views here in Akaroa are amazing. We have seen white flippered penguins in the wild which we couldn't believe.
They have a pet sheep which we have grown quite fond of (thats him at the top!) Anyway better go would love to hear how things are in the UK. Take care G & T

Safe & Sound (and Very tired!!)

Arrived safely in Christchurch after spending what felt like an eternity sitting on an aeroplane. Picked up our hire car which is a lovely gold Daihatsu Sirion!! Driving seems ok although they do have one slightly strange give way rule which might take some getting used to so we'll be giving way to everyone for a while!! We're off up to Kaikoura tomorrow to hopefully see some whales and dolphins so we are both looking forward to that. Anyway we're going to go back to our Kosy Kiwi cabin and go to bed!

Last night in the UK!!!

Scary stuff, everything has just been picked up by the shipping company we only ordered 3 boxes but ended up filling 8!!
Everything appears to be ok at the moment, main bags packed etc just the waiting now!
It's starting to actually sink in now that we are about to move to the other side of the world! Literally, the furthest point you can move too apart from the moon. Lets hope it's worth it.
Anyway next time we post we should be in Christchurch take care G&T

At last after sending out roughly a million letters and CV's to just about every school in Auckland I have finally got a job!! I will be working at Papatoetoe High and Tania will be working at Westlake Boys. Less than 2 weeks to go!!!!!!!
